Hi Meghan, It looks like we are two women cut from the same mold. I too am a backcountry woman who writes and pops out random yoga poses in the middle of the wilderness. Check out my website: http://julieannemorley.com
My first novel, Cole Creek, is coming out at the end of the summer.
Hi Meghan,
I really enjoyed reading your article in Our Canada magazine while staying in Cardiology at Sunnybrook. It helped me to keep good spirits in otherwise gloomy atmosphere.
I loved two pix: your friends jumping at the cave’s entrance, and you, sitting in a kayak in complete calm with majestic mountain in the background. Can I find these amazing pictures anywhere?
Thank you so much,
Best wishes,
Jack
Hi I’ll be in banff in a month….just curious which out door rink is looking good around this time a year? something more rustic would be nice but any outdoor one would work. thank you so much!!
:)

Hi Kelly,
The most reliable outdoor skating rinks that time of year are next to the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (that one is maintained by the hotel) and on the Bow River near the Blue Canoe docks on Bow Avenue. The one on the river is a bit more rough but fun.
There is also a chance that some of the mountain lakes will be snow free, in which case that is always fun. Lake Minnewanka, Johnson Lake, Two Jack Lake are all great options if they are snow free and smooth. You can’t really know until you’re in the Banff area though.
For another fun option head up to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to skate on the rink on Lake Louise. Again it will be in good condition because it is maintained by the hotel.
Happy skating!
Meghan
